The Akron Civic Theatre, which first opened in 1929, is a must-see site for any architecture enthusiasts visiting Downtown Akron. The building features Egyptian Revival, Moorish, and Chinese architecture and is known for a stunning interior that can easily be compared to a Moorish palace.
For lovers of the art galleries, there’s the Akron Art Museum at the north end of High Street where you’ll find an array of exhibits and events dedicated to a variety of mediums, including traditional print, drawings, oil paintings, and sculptures, as well as new art forms like experimental digital work, installations and more.
Near the center of Downtown is the John S. Knight Center where local sports teams like the Akron Zips play on occasion. There is ample parking, too, so if you’re planning an event at the nearby historic church or are headed to the park, parking near this spot is ideal.

Highland Square
This Akron district offers a unique, relaxed, eclectic mix of shops and restaurants for all types of diners and budgets. Both are accessible from Goodyear Boulevard, where you can get off the highway with ease from Exit 129, and enjoy everything that Northeast Akron has to offer.
